The Source of the name of Bingöl:

    Bingöl have been dominated by several civilizations. Firstly the city was known as 'çewlik' or 'çolig', and it was a subdistrict of Palu town. In 1872 it became a town with the name of 'Çapakçur', in 1936 with the same name it became a province. In 1945 the city got the name as 'Bingöl'. 
    There are a lot of legends about the name of Bingöl. One of them is ;

One day a hunter hunted a bird. He found a lake in order to clean the bird. While cleaning it, suddenly the bird alived and flied off.
